Preventing Stock Expiry in Pesticide Shops

A guide to logging batches, checking expiries, setting dashboard alerts, and reducing dead stock.

Why Pesticide Expiry Management is Critical

Chemical inputs have fixed shelf lives. Storing expired stock ties up capital and presents legal liabilities. Managing expiries prevents financial losses.

1. Log Batches During Purchases

When stock arrives, register both the batch numbers and expiry dates. Avoid grouping different deliveries under one generic item description.

2. Apply FIFO Shelving Habits

Enforce First-In, First-Out (FIFO) rules. Keep items with closer expiry dates at the front of display racks so they sell first.

3. Set Up Warning Alerts

Use visual indicators to monitor expiries. Having systems show warning levels 60 to 90 days before expiry allows enough time for returns.
